DID YOU KNOW?
While Oktoberfest is a cultural festival rather than a religious holiday, it holds deep ties to the roots of the Lutheran church. Lutheranism originated in Germany through the ministry of reformer Martin Luther in the 16th century. Many Lutheran congregations in the United States were founded by German immigrants who brought their native food, music, and traditions with them. Here at UniLu, our congregation is home to a few German immigrants and families. We're excited to share a bit of German culture with our community here at Clemson during our Oktoberfest Block Party!
